Software introduction

It looks as though Nintendo is hoping to capitalize on the Switch’s overwhelming success, at least in Japan. The company is releasing a stripped down Switch bundle for Japanese markets that will sell for 24,980 yen, or about £170.

This new package comes without the dock, HDMI cable, and AC adapter. That means you’ll have to purchase all of those accessories separately if you’re looking to use your Switch with your TV. You’ll still be able to charge the Switch with a USB cable. According to the Japanese Nintendo Store, you can also choose the exact colors of the Joy-Cons and their associated straps from seven different shades, and mixing and matching is certainly an option.

We’re not entirely sure if this bundle will make its way westward. It makes a lot of sense for the Japanese market, where mobile gaming is a huge industry thanks to the country’s heavy use of public transit. Vitas and 3DS handhelds are a common sight, and the Switch fits right in.

Would you think about purchasing the new Switch bundle if it were to head your way?

Galactory - Sandbox God Simulator(Early Access)Gilbert went out, and Anne put away Little Jem's short dresses with trembling hands. She could not sew any more that day. With tear-wet eyes she wandered over the little domain where she had reigned so happy a queen. The Morgan place was all that Gilbert claimed. The grounds were beautiful, the house old enough to have dignity and repose and traditions, and new enough to be comfortable and up-to-date. Anne had always admired it; but admiring is not loving; and she loved this house of dreams so much. She loved EVERYTHING about it--the garden she had tended, and which so many women had tended before her--the gleam and sparkle of the little brook that crept so roguishly across the corner--the gate between the creaking fir trees--the old red sandstone step--the stately Lombardies-- the two tiny quaint glass cupboards over the chimney- piece in the living-room--the crooked pantry door in the kitchen-- the two funny dormer windows upstairs--the little jog in the staircase-- why, these things were a part of her! How could she leave them?

Or my affection put to th' smallest teen,
The Switch's Online service has been a bit of a weird affair for current users. Though we were only supposed to get the free trial for about a year, now we've got at least an inkling as to when we're going to have to pay up.

For those who don't know, the Online service is what you use to play with users over the internet, i.e. on Mario Kart or Splatoon 2. You'll also potentially get access to subscriber-only deals and offers. Last year we learnt that you'd be paying up to £/$/€19.99 for a 12-month membership which isn't a terrible amount by far.

Earlier today, Ninty's Financial Result Briefing (page 6) noted that the Online service is slated to begin in September 2018. Though there's not a ton of information on it, more details will apparently be posted in early May, so let's hope those prices and benefits all stay their ground.

Here's the full report:

"Nintendo Switch Online, a paid subscription service that will expand the online functionality of Nintendo Switch, will begin in September of this year. The service will provide consumers with a richness of online features that allow them to continuously enjoy Nintendo Switch. More information will be presented on our website in early May."

Swordshot is an upcoming casual shooter from indie developer Oleg Klaus that's being published by the prolific Crescent Moon Games. It will be available for both iOS and Android when it launches sometime in early 2020.

In Swordshot you'll play as a magical floating sword that can, as you've probably guessed, shoot magic. Each level will see you face off against a randomly generated enemy that you'll have to blast multiple times until it dies.

The catch is, it will be protected by an assortment of items that float around it in a circular motion. Neither you nor the enemy can move so it's entirely a test of your timing and reflexes, waiting for a break in its constantly shifting and rotating shield so that you can sneak a shot in.

Each level will throw up different sized items in that ring of defence alongside different movement patterns and speeds. An enemy won't be felled in one shot either, you will need to hit them several times and you'll only have a limited number of attempts. That means that you'll need to get your timing perfect more than once to claim victory.

It all sounds very simple and really that's because it is. But sometimes a straightforward idea can be the most addictive, particularly on mobile. Especially since in Swordshot's case, it has a far more interesting presentation than most games of this ilk.

Sure, retro-styled games are fairly common on mobile but it's not so often you see casual games that make use of the aesthetic. The screen also vigorously shakes when you hit the target alongside dozens of gems exploding out of your foe to make everything feel impactful.

Swordshot will be available on both the App Store and Google Play with an expected release sometime in Spring. It will be a free-to-play game.
The top 50 best mobile games currently in soft launch for iPhone, iPad or Android&#;Encamped in hearts, but fighting outwardly.
