�Skillful fightsMonarchy may have grabbed first place at this year’s Very Big Indie Pitch at Pocket Gamer Connects Bangalore, but Wordifly was a close runner-up.Like moths to a flameWordifly is one of those games that’s extremely easy to pick up and play, whilst also being highly addictive.The premise is simple: you are a firefly who must spell out words and collect stars in order to maintain your upwards flight.You control Glowee the firefly by tilting your phone or tablet from left to right in order to collect the floating stars, each of which holds a letter that you can use to spell out any word that has more than two letters.Each word you gain gives you more and more fire in order to fly, with more difficult words granting you more power than shorter ones.There’s even a mechanic to help you out in case you grab the wrong letter, or spell something incorrectly, as players can simply tap the screen in order to get rid of the previous letter that they picked up.What’s more, taking inspiration from Thatgamecompany and the likes of Journey, this is all done through a calming zen like design, something that gives the game a somewhat therapeutic and calming feel.All about the scoreWordily’s simplicity also extends into the games endless runner mechanics, and encourages classic high score chasing that has encapsulated both the mobile market, and the golden age of the arcades.What’s more it works extremely well here given the pick up and play nature of the title, and was just another reason why the judges awarded Wordifly second place in what was a hotly contested competition.The final build is also set to include a challenge mode where players will be tasked with completing words that have predetermined letters, and an assist function for those who may not consider spelling to be their greatest strength.All in all, from what was seen at Pocket Gamer Connects Bangalore 2016, Wordifly looks to be an incredibly intuitive and easy to pick up title, one that everyone can enjoy.Wordifly is currently available for free as a beta build on both iOS and Android if you want to have a taster right now.
