Gaming giant Activision Blizzard has started the process of laying off around 8% of its staff, despite 2018 being its best year for revenues in the company's history.Per Kotaku, Activision Blizzard had around 9,600 staff in 2018. An 8% reduction therefore equates to around 800 people losing their jobs. A small consolation to this is that those affected will at least receive a severance package, unlike staff affected by layoffs at Telltale Games last year.VentureBeat reports that King's studio Z2Live is being shuttered as part of the layoffs, affecting 78 jobs. The Seattle-based studio is known for games like Paradise Bay, and is estimated to have generated over $200 million in revenue over the last few years.According to its financial release, Activision Blizzard generated $7.5 billion in revenues in 2018, the highest it has ever made in its entire history. East Side Games is trying something bold with the upcoming Dragon Up: Match 2 Hatch. It's entering the crowded match three puzzler pool, but is challenging you to match two instead.That might sound easier in theory, but in practice it really isn't. That's largely down to Dragon Up being far less of a casual experience, and more of an actual puzzler, with you having to figure out the perfect series of moves to maximise your points.You're also not given that many moves in the first place. In fact, certain levels only provide you with a single move, and it's up to you to figure out how to use it to get a massive score.There are tricks to help skew the match in your favour though. If you match a bunch at once, you can freeze the move counter, giving you a period of free moves with which to set up the perfect game.You can also hatch upgradeable dragons, which offer bonus perks during a game.Though the colourful cartoon visuals may fool you, Dragon Up might be a tad more intimidating than most match-something fare. But it eases you in gently over the course of the initial few levels.There's no release date set for Dragon Up: Match 2 Hatch just yet, but it will be out on iOS and Android by the end of the year.....

Capcom has returned its sleuthing adventure Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective to the App Store with an update so that it works on iOS 8.It's about time, too. iOS 8 was released back in September 2014 and Ghost Trick has been broken for most of the months since then.And what does Capcom have to say about the game's lengthy absence? Only four words came with the update: "It corresponded to iOS8." Great.Anyway, keeping prospects positive, at least Ghost Trick is back on iOS now. It got a Gold Award from us so it's certainly worth giving a look, especially if you're a fan of Phoenix Wright series (which is by the same creator)....
