A BULL was bitten by a Mouse and, angered by the wound, tried to capture him. But the Mouse reached his hole in safety. Though the Bull dug into the walls with his horns, he tired before he could rout out the Mouse, and crouching down, went to sleep outside the hole. The Mouse peeped out, crept furtively up his flank, and again biting him, retreated to his hole. The Bull rising up, and not knowing what to do, was sadly perplexed. At which the Mouse said, "The great do not always prevail. There are times when the small and lowly are the strongest to do mischief.""I'm so glad to see you, dear. You must be real tired. We've got a bite of supper ready, and Captain Jim brought up some trout for you. Captain Jim--where are you? Oh, he's slipped out to see to the horse, I suppose. Come upstairs and take your things off."

Following the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon last week, you'll either still be in the game's honeymoon stage or you'll be sick of hearing about it. Turns out however that Sun and Moon is Nintendo's biggest UK launch yet.

That's probably not much of a surprise to you guys but I'm talking about EVER, in all of the years Nintendo's been producing games for us - and that's an impressive outcome.

Whether that was due to its release date being around Black Friday, its well-marketed pre-orders, or probably just because it looked like a great Pokemon game, it looks like Nintendo's come out swinging.

Given the intense flop of the WiiU, hopefully this result bodes well for the long-awaited Nintendo Switch as it's also rumoured to be getting an exclusive version of the game.

To put this all in perspective, a tweet from the Dep. News Editor for Eurogamer states: "Pokemon Sun and Moon managed in one day what Wii Fit sold in two weeks." Now, ain't that just something?

Hard to put into perspective - Pokémon Sun and Moon managed in one day what Wii Fit sold in two weeks— Tom Phillips (@tomphillipsEG) November 28, 2016The Raven and the Swan

Square World is a tile-placement game from independent developer Sunil Patel. It's available now for both iOS and Android and promises a surprisingly deep experience that adheres to the old video game adage of 'easy to pick up, hard to master'.

The concept of the game is incredibly simple. All you have to do is fill in a grid with different tiles. However, depending on the placement of these tiles you will get a different number of points, meaning that you'll want to make sure you're placing the best combinations together to maximise your score.

The way they score points will differ. For instance, placing a tree tile next to one that has a lake will net you 3 points. Elsewhere, there are tiles with differing styles of totem on them. These will reward players with increasingly more points the more unique looking totems you manage to place in a column.

That might be quite easy if you could place tiles wherever you wanted. However, you can only place a tile that connects to the one you've previously placed in some way. Therefore it will require good planning to successfully place down good combinations of tiles to maximise your points.

Each run will then end when you can't place any more tiles on the grid. The developer says that the more you play the game the more secrets you'll discover that will influence your tactics going forward, which should eventually lead to more impressive high scores. They've even hinted that there's a hidden meta-game that elevates Square Worlds to a new level.

Square Worlds is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with a single IAP that unlocks more game modes for $0.99.
On the hunt for more puzzle games? Here are 25 of the best available for Android
O cleft effect! cold modesty, hot wrath,
This week's Apple Arcade release, Neversong, has just now snuck its way onto the App Store. Formerly known as Once Upon a Coma, it sees you playing as a young fella named Peet. After waking up from a coma, he finds that his girlfriend has gone missing.

Troublingly, the adults around him are all behaving rather strangely, and far off in the distance, he can hear screams coming from the heart of the Neverwood. Could it be that his girlfriend is in danger? What on earth is going on? I'm sure all will eventually be revealed.

It's said to be a dreamlike fable packed with surreal visuals and encounters. Early on, Peet heads out on a grand adventure from the Red Wind Field to the haunted halls of the Blackfork Asylum and beyond, all in the hopes of uncovering the truth and breaking free of his never-ending nightmare.

Unfortunately for lovely Peet, he won't be alone in the game's six moody levels, with various monsters and the zombie-like grownups skulking his picturesque surroundings. Thankfully, he has his trusty baseball bat at hand, childhood friends at his side, and handy pet bird to help him out and keep him company.

It looks super stylish and interesting, all told, and I know that it's been in development for a fair while now. If you've been waiting to give it a go, you'll find Neversong available for download now over on the App Store. That said, you'll of course need an active Apple Arcade subscription to play.

Apple Arcade has been on a bit of a roll recently, releasing several solid games back to back. Beyond Blue, A Fold Apart, and Scrappers are all worth a shot, for starters.
On the hunt for some top-tier puzzlers? Here are 25 of the best for iPhone and iPad
